Fashion Promotion Student
Hi, i'm Ashleigh Mears and I am twenty one years old. I have recently finished my fashion promotion degree in the university of South Wales, Cardiff. I have always been interested in fashion as I love styling people and creating new looks and ideas. My interests include shopping, going to the gym daily to keep fit and healthy and traveling to see new cultures and places around the world.
My passion would be to become a fashion stylist, visual merchandiser or personal shopper as these jobs are quite similar as they all involve styling someone or something. I am a very hard-working individual, I always stick to a deadline and I am always on time, I'm confident and good at team working and I complete and finish a job to the best of my ability.
Here is a work portfolio that I have created showing some of my best work that I have completed and taken part in during my three years of university. I have learnt various new skills and abilities from these three years that will equip me for my future aspirations.
Adidas Shoot
One of my first modules was based on Adidas, so for this I created a shoot using Adidas clothing where I styled and used a model to incorporate the brand. This shoot has an urban feel to it and was later used to create a cookbook for the Adidas brand.
Office wear shoot
For part of my colour and trend modules we had to work in groups to come up with a trend that was popular at the time, we decided to choose fashionable but sophisticated 'office wear.' We chose this as at the time plaid and check patterns were coming back into fashion. We then had to create a photoshoot showing this where we styled and came up with a concept for this. This shoot was located near the Principality Stadium, Cardiff.
These are some photographs that I have taken of my sister in previous modules. I have styled and created each look myself using different hairstyles, accessories and colour to add to each look.
H&M X & Other Stories
Here is another group module I took part in. We got given the brand H&M X & OtherStories. Here we had to look at the style of the brand and come up with a shoot using clothes that we had to incorporate into the style and theme off this H&M brand. The locations we used were the arcades in Cardiff and Jacob's antique shop. These locations fitted our photoshoot well.
My FMP project- Creating a festival fashion window display...
For my last project during my three years in university this has been by far my favourite. For my final major project I had the chance to design my own window display. I chose the theme of festival fashion as this is what I love and very much my style.
For this I used charity clothing, my own and some borrowed clothing from various brands and shops to create this display. With the display I used the window in my university and once finished it was up for a week and a half with other students also.
I think this window turned out well in the end as it was what I wanted it to look like. It has also given me a glimpse into visual merchandising which I would love top do someday within the fashion industry.
